2nd Annual Scarecrow Contest Underway @ the Conservatory

Scarecrow Stroll & Vintage Market: Beware of what you may find lurking in the Woodland Trails...scarecrows galore, the Headless Horseman on his mighty steed, dancing witches...Visit the Taylor Conservatory and Botanical Gardens on October 16th, 2021 to find out what fun awaits! Located 5 miles from Metro Airport, travellers from all over the world stop to view our public gardens. The Conservatory has partnered with the Vintage Market, the City of Taylor's Heritage Park Petting Farmand the Rotary Club of Taylor of to host a day of fun fall family festivities for all ages on our beautiful eight acres of formal and whimsical gardens, Woodland Trails, and Great Lawn. Food and beverage vendors will offer your favorite festival fare. Rotary Clubs of Taylor, Southgate, Lincoln Park, Allen Park and Wayne State University will be on hand taking donations in exchange for a ‘purple pinky’ to help create awareness of the Polio Plus effort to eradicate Polio worldwide.The Rotary Club of Taylor will supply adult beverages for sale. The Lake Eerie Hexenbrut dance troupe will perform to entertain, make mischief, and create laughter. Musical groups will perform throughout the day including local (Grosse Ile) youth duo, Mirror Image, The Sara Sherrard Band and headliner, Just Three Guitars. Cost is $5 at the door - age 12 and under are free! Rotary Clubs of Taylor, Southgate, Lincoln Park, Allen Park and Wayne State University will be on hand taking donations in exchange for a ‘purple pinky’ to help create awareness of the Polio Plus effort to eradicate Polio worldwide. Each guest will get three tickets to vote on their favorite Scarecrow plus admission to the Petting Farm. Contest winners will be announced on FaceBook 'Taylor Conservatory', Sunday October 17th. Scarecrow Contest: Individuals and businesses are invited to create a Scarecrow from silly to spooky for a chance to win prizes and brag a bit in our Scarecrow Contest.Participation fee is $25 and includes an optional wooden frame, two free tickets to the Scarecrow Stroll + Vintage Market, and a chance to win prizes - all proceeds help keep the public gardens growing.
