"Francesca's Heart" is a major art piece that was installed in 2014 to commemorate the life of local young newlywed, Francesca (Vitale) Weatherhead. Francesca's life was ended suddenly. She was taken too soon but her life's mantra of "I Just Love Love "is immortalized on the leaves of the metal sculpture.
Francesca's family friends commissioned metal artist, Perry Durham, to create the art piece which is displayed in the formal gardens at the Conservatory. When the sculpture was installed we didn't realize what a huge, positive impact the piece would have on the community. Our very young visitors rush to the Heart with their classmates to check out the unique sculpture. Many wedding and family photos are taken in front of the Heart. It is the spot for many marriage proposals.
Since the Heart was installed the Taylor Conservatory Foundation expanded accessible walkways leading up to it. The Heart now is in need of a long-term restoration to remove rust and seal permanently. We also plan to expand the ornamental garden around the Heart including uplighting. The cost of the Heart Restoration Project is estimated in total of $1,500. We are seeking donations to complete the project though an online campaign.
